alright so let me first start the thread with saying i probably have a mild case of "new-car-paranoia", but i might as well ask anyway:

Have a new '05 wrx sedan 5mt that currently has ~1200 miles on it. ive recently (it might have always done this but im just now noticing it) noticed that when the car is idle (and not moving) i hear this humming noise that is distintly different than the normal engine rumble. its comming from the engine bay (because its louder when i lift the hood up) and it sounds like a vibration of some kind, but it has to be a really fine vibration because it sounds like a faint hum (like an electronic hum).

anybody have any idea what im talking about or do i need mental help?

 

It could be the fuel pump but that comes from the trunk area. So I guess that's not it. That's where my hum comes from.

 

yeah this hum is from the front cause i can here it better when i pop the hood.
