Humming noise after axle seal change

Under accelleration I hear a humming noise coming from the transmission, I counted how many turns it took to remove the retainer on both sides and marked my spots, could I have possibly tightened it too much?

OK...you're only slightly ****ed.
Why would you pull the diff side retainers off in order to change the seals?
My guess is that you messed up the bearing preload by one turn too tight.
Hope that only the front diff carrier bearings need replacing.

Well, I can't hear the noise, so I'm going off of experience.
The noise could be from a few things, but seeing that you removed both diff carrier bearing retainers, it is most likely the cause of the noise.
You could have also shifted the ring gear too close to the pinion gear, which is an expensive mistake.
