They must subscribe to the "mods increase the value of the car" myth. Exactly how many is "low miles"? There was an '04 STi, silver/silver, with about 4,000 miles on it at a local dealer back in April and they only wanted $28k for it. With the exhaust, intake and gauges, even if they got defi gauges, and that in-dash screen, they probably only invested $3,000 - $4,000 additional in to the car and it sounds like they're trying to get all their money back on it, which isn't feasible given that the car is now technically "used". If I were you I'd try to look at what other used STis are selling for in you area. There might be one at a local dealer you could check out or in autotrader or something like that. Offer them market + maybe a small amount for the aftermarket bits and try to find out how they drove it, how old the driver was and why they're selling it. If the car has "low miles", which I'm thinking would be less than 10k, and they modded it that quickly, they may have been a bit hard on the car during their time of ownership and may not have followed the break in procedure.

28,500 OTD might be worth it assuming the goodies in it were professionally installed... the mileage is good. but at this time of year look in dealer ads, and you will see that 04's are selling pretty close to 28,500.

my personal recommendation is to go brand new. i mean whats a couple thousand dollars for peace of mind? and with an exaust and intake... who wouldn't drive their car somewhat hard... i know i would- just so i could hear the exaust.
and i work at Subaru Kaneohe (just click my profile)

Buy New! I would only buy a modded car from my own brother, on condition that he warrants it with his ancient collector's MB 300, and even then, I would have serious doubts.
