Horrible Time At Dealer
just thought i would share my experience haggling with the dealers, here in kansas city we have 2 subaru dealers one on the missouri side and one on the kansas side, the first dealer i went to said the best deal they could do was 200 over invoice which came to 23,885 for a JBP wrx sedan it had the spoiler auto dimming compas mirror upgraded security package, upgraded sound package, boost guage, the dinky sti titatinum shift **** and the short throw shifter (which by the way isnt really that short), so i told them i needed more time to think it over and that i thought that was a fair deal. so then i go to the other dealer on the kansas side i decided i wanted to look at this silver sti i told the salesmen it would be feeseable if i could get a interest rate of 5.9 or better and it just didnt work out so i went back to the wrx then, again they also said the best deal they could do was the 23,885 and that they were loosing money doing that so i haggled for a while and they said they would do it for 23,225 with the 750 off so i go "alright that sounds good" so the finance manager comes over with a major atttitude and starts just grilling me when i tell him some of the prices others are getting their sedans for and at that time he was probally getting pissed because i was low balling him and then decideds he is going to refuse to do the deal and asks me why do i want it so low, a dumb question if you ask me. I tell him one because my mother is going to cosign(college students dont have much credit ^_^) and two of course i want the lowest price i can get but im willing to work it out of that number dosent work for you so he again says "no im not going to do it "and i go ok thats cool it was nice dealing with you and i went to shake his hand and he goes "whatever" and i say i dont appericate you bing rude to me and he goes well im just not going to loose money over some punk kid and i go excuse me sir but i dont feel that was a approiate comment to make and he starts pushing me out not psyhicaly but says i need to leave now so i start walking out and i say dont think i wont be calling the owner of this dealership and telling him what happened, and not only that but i will tell every one i know that is thinking of buying a subaru to make a wide circle around this dealership. so im about half way home and this other guy calls and says he is sorry for the finance manager being rude and susposedly he is the owner of both dealerships and that the other store cannot give me the car for 23,885 because they will be loosing money, so i tell him i dont have time for this and start telling him that i dont appericate the way his finance manager acted and now i dont even want to buy a subaru and hes like well lets move past this and starts feeding me this 30minute line about triple net and blah blah blah did i believe that he was the owner? no becaus the name of the dealer ship is jack miller subaru..... so i think i will be going to pick up my car monday at the other dealer for 23,885 please tell me if this is infact a good deal, and i just thought i would share my experience please give me some feedback ^_^

Dude dont buy the car,you shold be able to get it for 22,800 or 22,900 at the most. That xtra 1 grand will save you $20 a month. Also you can negotiate your intrest rates.I bought a 3.2 CL Type S this Sunday and the guy said i was getting 12.5% intrest rates,so i tell him that my bank can give me 6.5% and i get up to leave and he quickly matches the rate, saving me a stagering $56 a monthin pure intrsest rates!Im sorry to hear about your hard time but things will wont improve at other Subaru dealers,Subaru has some of the least professional sales man ive seen.I suggest you go to kbb.com and look up the pricce the dealer paid you can get the car for and print it and show it to the salesman next time.BTW, these salesmans are actors, they only act like they are pissed so you can think that what they say is the truth.

Here in California that would seem like a good deal to me.
I investigated buying an '04 on KBB as well as other sites and found out that I shouldn't expect to pay less than 25,000 out the door, after tax and licensing.
Maybe this is because of where I live but the prices you were quoted are outstanding for a new Subaru. I bought my RS in Feb. of 2001 and paid $21,800 (final).

My 04 with the short throw shifter and spoiler ended up at 23,300 plus tax and tags after the 750 cash back and dealer discount. For what the car has I'm very happy with the price I payed. Apple Subaru in York, PA was very helpful when I bought my car. Test drove the WRX in august but decided I did not have the money to buy yet. They were completely understanding and treated me just as well when I returned in december to purchase the car.

And I can say that if I was treated like that, somebody would have gotten fired! Okay, so maybe I'm exaggerating, but I definitely would't buy a car from either of the dealerships unless they gave me an outstanding deal for putting up with that crap.
