P0140, Need help

P0140, Need help

Hi Guys
MY00 Impreza RS. I have a CEL problem, went to Autozone and have it read. A P0140 code which points to the front O2. However, I’ve done some search throughout the internet, and this code is pointing to the rear O2. Any help is greatly apprieciated, also, any suggestion on a fix is a plus. Thanks.

Have you had the front sensor replaced? There was a recall on it a while back. I don't have the codes handy so I can't confirm which it's for, but it's worth a shot to run it by a dealer and see what they say.

Fourth time a charm

Yep, I have it replace for the third time. I did the battery reset thingy, and delete that code (which I apologize P0140 doesn't exist, stupid autozone). However, I have a new code P0420 Cat Efficiency problem, which is coming back for the second time. My car is basically stock with no aftermarket anything. I’ve just purchased new O2’s, I’m wondering if I have to replace the cat with it? Any suggestions out there?

How many miles do you have on your car? I've heard of a few cats going bad on these cars (you and I have the same model and year). I started getting p0420 codes a while back and just cleared them. The warranty on the cats goes to 80k miles, so I'd get it into a Subie shop if you're under that and have them check your exhaust out. Might be covered still.

Yeah, I'm pretty much screwed in the emission warranty department.. Thanks RGC, I probably go ahead and replace both O2 and if comes back, I'll do the cat next. Thanks for your response
