Help Transmission is Grinding!

Well this being my first manual car I'm not too sure why its doing this. Its been going on for 2-3 weeks now and its slowly getting worse. The gear its mostly grinding on is on 4th. I'm pretty sure my driving has been fine its usually just normal driving and then every now and then when I shift to 4th the gear just grinds while I push it into 4th. Is this a sign of a new transmission? Or could this be fixed?

Oh yeah and it happens a less often on 1st gear.

Thanks

What fluids are you running? It's happening to my car too, but only in hot weather and stop & go traffic. BAN SUVS said it might have something to do with your fluids. I'm running all Mobil 1 Synthetic in my cars, so pretty much the my tranny fluids get really slippery when the weather is hot. I have to ease in to 4th gear and sometimes it grinds when I shove to 1st gear if I'm not paying attention. So see if changing your tranny fluid would help. Other than that, if it doesn't help, your synchro's are going out. New tranny.

It's happened with my transmission 3rd-4th grind.

I've had it fixed under warranty all 3 times. I've had factory fluid my cars entire life. (whatever it is they use)

Try GM Synchromesh. I used it in my former WRX and it worked fine.

Mine does it in first gear from a dead stop, and rarely from 3 to 4. It's just a sympton of an ancient syncro design.

Step 1: Drain the synthetic.

Step 2: add a mix of standard OEM dino oil and GM syncromesh

Step 3: shake your fist a Subaru for insisting on using a lack luster syncro design that all other manufacturers improved 10 years ago.

Where do you get GM Synchromesh? Tried looking for it online but just found a lot of other forums talking about it too.
