Help needed: Power steering leak

Hey guys,
I have a power steering leak in the main metal hose that is right next to the passenger firewall of the car. I suspect it is a bad O-ring and should be any easy fix. Has anyone ever fixed/replaced theirs? If so, I'd appreciate any advice and if you could stop by my place in Daly City and show me, I'd be more than willing to take you out for a few drinks. I've just been topping off the power steering fluid to ensure that there is enough fluid. It's a slow leak so nothing major.
Thanks!
Benny

Get this fixed, I have read where PS fluid leaks have caused to catch fire! Sorry I can't offer any helpful info other than that.

I've replaced mine on my SVX.

is it simply leaking from the ends where it connects, or is it seeping from the hose itself?

That'll determine the course of action you need to take. It's about a 30 minute/2 beer job if you have to replace the line.

I happen to have an extra power steering line from an 02 WRX (the one that connects from the pump to the steering rack). PM me if you want it, I'll let it go for cheap.

Thanks for the responses guys. It's the ends that are leaking so I suppose it's the connectors or the O-ring. I can't tell for sure since it is insulated in a silver wrap.

Sounds like there is no quick way to do it so I guess I'll flush out the PS fluid, then just take it apart and then determine what's going on with it. It'll require some elboy grease and going under the car but it'll stop the leak and the oil spot on my garage floor won't get any bigger.

stg2lgcy00, thanks for the offer but it sounds like it's a different hose that is having the problem.

I was going to comment that the unshielded uppipes cause PS leaks at the O-ring. However you did mention you had insulation. In any case good luck.

If it's leaking anywhere near the exhaust, fix it ASAP!!!! My leak was from a Blitz intake not properly mounted (my stupid *** fault) and caused a leak. Which in turn on a 112 degree day and driving to the Mt Hamilton meet up Mine's road, caused a fire on the exhaust manifold heat shield. Not fun. I had to change both P/S lines and the pump after that. Just make sure that you have the proper wrenches.

Thanks for the advice guys. Turns out that it was the nut in the fitting that connects the two metal pipes together. Sounds like it's a common occurence since others have said the same thing. If anyone sees this in the future and needs pictures, just IM me. Shouldn't take anymore than 10 min to fix.
