Help finding a car

alright, i am still looking to buy an rs, but i cant seem to find any with the right specifications for my needs. i am looking to buy a 98-01 rs that is manual and has around 110k miles or less, for around 6k-6.5k. ive seen a couple, and almost bought a few but they had some major mechanical damage, which would cost a lot, and i have very little automotive experience. it seems as though the cars in the right price range have higher milleage, which brings me to my question. how long do these cars last? i was told not to buy one over 110k becuase the life of the car wouldnt be much longer.

What do you mean how long do they last? So many variables to consider that determing different outcomes. You have to look at the history. Who owned it? How was it maintained? Was it raced? And so forth. You may guess the life of the car by answering the questions. Judging by the maintanence, clutch, transmission blah blah blah. With everything properly done they can last well over 200k miles. You may even get 2.5RSs that last well below 110k. To belive that the car can only last 110k miles or less is ludicrus. Suppose you found a car that had 100k miles, would you still get it? Probably not.

no im not saying that i think that these cars last that long, thats just the highest milleage that i would buy a car with. i guess thats kindof a hard question to answer, i didnt think about how many variables there were in determining the life of a car

I didn't mean to get on your butt. It's a great car. My sister has one with 100k+ miles and it runs better than perfect. Goodluck. I suggest taking it to a mechanic and check to see if it has been into any accidents. Since it's Natural Air don't quite have to worry AS much about the engine. You can notice if it has been 'raced' by the clutch. Ask the previous owner if the clutch has ever been replaced.
