whats up guys and gals
i drive a 04 scion xb RS1 aka ricebox....ive always been in love with the bugeye but wasnt able to get one cause of family conflict in used car buying...but i finally broke them and now im able to get one as long as i pay for it...i'll get to the point, im lookin to buy a bugeye for style purpose only...buildin a turbo'd b20 honda for racing purposes. i just wanna know if i should get a bugeye style it up with a drop and rims with a couple of carbon fiber pieces, or get a new one and save myself the hassel of breakage. in other words i wanna know what are the most problems with the bugeyes. and im seeing alot of transmission breakages in some of the other threads...how many miles did it take you to get this problem? im not lookin to sup up the motor anytime soon but if there are a few things that would be ideal to do for mild performance/ better part let me know...thanks

I think you should stay away from the carbon pieces. No offense, but the Impreza isn't exactly a car you buy for "style". You buy it because it's so fun to drive that it doesn't matter if it's ugly. I mean, I like the way they look and all, but there are far prettier cars out there.
Anyway, as for the transmission, don't drive like a jack *** and you should be ok. I had 250whp and 220wtq on my '03, dragged it at the strip a few times, generally drove it hard, didn't have a single problem. I also never dropped the clutch while revving the car at high rpm.
Other than that, the car is relatively problem free. They're good cars, but seriously, not cars you buy to look cool and get chicks.
