Hey guys. i've been reading on other threads about how a lot of you do NOT like the new 06 STI's that are comming out. But it seems that some do like it. i am one of the odd ones who like some of the new characteristics of the 06's. But do you suggest getting the 05 anyway? Why NOT the 06? Maybe once i see it in person, ill have my decision.

It's all a personal decision.

Pick the one you would like to look at for years.

 

If you don't mind the looks, I personally feel it will be a better car overall. Especially since they will have the suspension better tuned to the 2.5L-turbo engine.

 

a lot of people seem to think there is a major change between the 05 and 06 STi. I cannot stress enough that this is a MINOR FACELIFT. Expect the major change for 07 or 08 at the latest. Differences will be minimal, mostly style.

 

One of the biggest differences will be the aero add ons like the wing on the top of the roof, and the channels on the undercarriage. In my opinion, they are significant changes, if you track your car, otherwise they are minor.

The rest of the changes are pretty minor, except of course the new facelift.

 

Biggest difference I have been able to find between the '05 and '06 STi is some sort of change in the dccd (not sure what it is though) other than that, just the body modifications (extra wing, new front end, different tail lights). Besides all of that (which you probably already knew), you might be able to get a deal on an '05. I'm trying to get a deal on an '05 myself.

 

i saw a showcase of the limited edition sti, and i thought it looked pretty hot in red (minus the white stripe down the middle)

yea it all depends on you...personally i dont like the front end...their making all the front ends off each make look the same now...IMO

 

I called Irvine Subaru this afternoon to see if the 06 models came, and they did, so i took my girlfriend with me to check them out. Honestly, they look a lot better in person IMO. And now im actually in the process of selling my RSX-S. In the showcase they had a white 06 STI and it was beautiful. The new Gunmetal color they offer is pretty nice too, but it looks like **** with Gold Rims, (silver rims highly reccomended) =D anyways, just giving my input, and if any of you check the 06's out, let me know what u think!

 

I just sold my 2000 2.5rs and placed an order for an 06 STi, should get here soon. I hope... I think it looks killer!!!!!

 

awsome! i was planning on going to Subaru on Wednesday but it turns out i wont be able to go. but in the mean time i think im gonna start to advertise to sell my car.. i want the 06!!

 

there will be a new color available for the 06 sti's. It's a shade darker than CGM, it's called SGM (Steel Gray Metallic). Look pretty nice. Other than the aero cosmetics, the only thing that has been changed on the 06 is that the center diff has been changed into a mechanical one. No other changes as far as i know.

I just picked my 06 STI up today... i hated the look of the new front ends until i saw one in person when i was looking for an 05. THEY ARE MUCH BETTER IN PERSON.
