I really need input I searched the site but did not find anything directly related to this issue.

After driving for a while with my STi ( 2004 with 76 000km). When I take a sharp curve a low speeds or when parking, the whole car will shake with a knocking in the differential ( front or back ???).

I had my synchro on the fifth speed changed at 40 000km and everything was great. I never really abused my car in the past and I still don't so I'm at a loss to understand the issue.

My dealer in good faith changed the diff/tranny on my car about 4000 km ago and yet the problem is not solved.


They received and forwarded to me a letter from Subaru Canada stating that this situation was normal and caused no damamge to the car in any way. Just be certain to keep the DCCD in auto mode in the city and live with it.

I'm not confortable with this because it wasn't there when I got the car 3 years ago. Why should it be there now. Some people suggested it could be a fluid thing and that higher performance oils would reduced this situation and others also suggested an oil cooler for the diff, and that this helped but did not necessarily solve the issue.

It's weird having the car stuter while parking it and hearing these knocks and bangs.

Your front and Rear diffs sound like they are locking up to full lock when slow conering occurs, mine also did the same right after i changed the fluids and i had to add more limited slip fluid and still once in a while locks on slow corners. if you do a search for gm syncro mesh here in the forums you will find some of the very same problems and some solutions to fix them. read over the entire thread before you pick any one fix there are a couple in there to chosse from, but it sounds like its related to fluids not mechanical.

Yet I heard that different quality of fluids could make a difference would you know which to recccomend?

I am using redline non synth for tranny MT-90 and redline synthetic 75-90 for rear diff and redline friction modifier for the clunking in the rear.
