Problems with STi differential!! where can i fix!? :(
My 04 STi is okay in Auto, and okay in full rear..
But when i put it in 2nd level (one above full rear) i hear a scraping sound from the front tires.. and as i move up in putting power to front wheels, it gets louder and louder.. and kinda makes clunking sound.
my friend said its something to do with the LSD, that its not catching correctly.. or locking too soon? or maybe even electrical.. (i just installed defi's) i have no clue, but i know it has to do with the front wheels and differential.. if anyone could direct me in a direction it'd be great.. bleh.. this sucks..
plzzzz help me!

If you're turning the wheel while the clunking sound occurs (and you're in manual mode at any DCCD setting above full-open), then it's due to "torque binding."

sjice, if it still bothers you, I will be happy to give you a ride in my WRX with front and rear CUSCO LSD's. My **** clunks so much it scares all the cats in the neighborhood.
After that, you will feel a lot better about your "silly" clunking...

man, read your owner's manual, it states there that it's totally normal to have noises for running any settings besides Auto for dccd. don't worry about it.
