Problems with STi differential!! where can i fix!? :(

My 04 STi is okay in Auto, and okay in full rear..

But when i put it in 2nd level (one above full rear) i hear a scraping sound from the front tires.. and as i move up in putting power to front wheels, it gets louder and louder.. and kinda makes clunking sound.

my friend said its something to do with the LSD, that its not catching correctly.. or locking too soon? or maybe even electrical.. (i just installed defi's) i have no clue, but i know it has to do with the front wheels and differential.. if anyone could direct me in a direction it'd be great.. bleh.. this sucks..

Were you moving the dial as you were driving? The manual says to leave the car parked and then adjusting the dials.

i found out it could possibly be "torque binding?" suppose to be normal on STis?

Just have someone look. If your inside wheel is spinning when you turn thats normal.

You can adjust the DCCD while you're driving. I did it all the time.

If you're turning the wheel while the clunking sound occurs (and you're in manual mode at any DCCD setting above full-open), then it's due to "torque binding."

What does this mean? Explain please. Are you trying to be sarcastic? Because if you are, you obviously know nothing about differentials, and therefore, should not be allowed to make silly sarcastic comments about stuff you have no clue about.

sjice, if it still bothers you, I will be happy to give you a ride in my WRX with front and rear CUSCO LSD's. My **** clunks so much it scares all the cats in the neighborhood. After that, you will feel a lot better about your "silly" clunking...

man, read your owner's manual, it states there that it's totally normal to have noises for running any settings besides Auto for dccd. don't worry about it.
