Talking Buying '02 WRX Wagon... what to look for?

Hey guys, my friends brother-in-law is selling his '02 WRX wagon. I've wanted a rex since they came out and now I can afford one! It has the Clubspec package that has 180hp (right?). Most everything looks good, records/maintenence, new tires. The only thing is the clutch is slipping. The clutch pedal releases really high and it'll slip after the turbo starts spoolin. It has 45,000 miles and many of those his wife was driving it. He told me she didn't know how to drive and would slip the clutch a lot.

My friend says that the clutch can be adjusted. I'm thinking, after reading posts of clutches lasting about 40k average, that it is actually on it's way out. The thing is, I'd like to verify that it is indeed the clutch, and have him adjust his price accordingly.

What would be a good clutch to replace it with?

Also, what else should I look for when I test drive it? Clutch shudder, etc....?

Thats a clean car! But I need more power and with a ~$3500 factory clubspec package installed 16,500 is what he's asking... which is a good deal I think. Also being local is better

Is the clutch is adjustable or is it slipping under boost because it's just worn out?

If this is a U.S. market car, that's not a factory option. There are no engine power upgrades from the factory for a WRX. It may have been dealer-installed and possibly covered under warranty but it won't be honored at any other dealership.

At 45,000 miles if the clutch is slipping it is worn out. Post in the Transmission forum here on this board to ask about a clutch recommendation.
