Anyone else have a problem with their front windows squealing?
Both my front windows make horrible squealing sounds when I roll them down. Has anyone else had to deal with this problem? What was your solution? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Wow, I used to see the posts of members flaming new people to the forum telling them to "Use the search you idiot!" At first I admit I had some sort of sympathy but now I understand the frustration... I did a search that took me all of 5 seconds to do and came up with a thread that had over 30 posts on this very topic. Please, please, PLEASE search first!

Sorry about the frustration
Honestly, I searched for over half an hour and found a lot about window rattling, but nothing about the window squealing problem. Tried window+squeal, window+shriek. Guess I never thought it sounded like a squeak. Thanks for assuming the worst.

window shriek squeal squeak sound noise loud roll down front high pitch
That should catch more people doing searches. If you're reading this thread, you probably think I'm an *** (rough morning :-) ), and you should definitely check the link that KmanRuffian mentions above. Here's a quick synopsis:
It seems that the sound is caused by the rubber which guides the front edge of the window. SUBARU_TECH says
"we have this problem on all are subaru's,first-please clean ur window-take it in-or just buy a can of silicone spray fron ur local auto supplier.spray in the gusset seal area(behind mirror) and on the horizontal seal running the length of ur window.its only rubber and it needs conditioning...."
And most people seem to agree with him. Results seem to be at least one month of silence.

My good buddy in BAIC told me how to fix it.
Take some silicone and go along the rubber at the bottom of the window frame and the triangle at the front of the window.
You'll get streaks on your window for a while but it won't squeal anymore

Yes this is a very common problem with our cars. About all you can do is clean it and it will go away for a couple months or so. Its a never ending battle. the silicon works also but it will still come back in time.
