Exclamation Airbag disablement

I own a 02 wrx and recently I had a small accident where I hit a cement light pole going 2mph (don't ask heh). The right front corner was smashed in and I've already found the parts I need but I first need to disarm the airbag so I can take off the smashed front bumper cover without it going off. How do I do this and where do I rind it?

Thanks, 50

Removing the bumper cover isn't going to make the airbag(s) go off, in order for that to happen the airbag control module has to detect specific impact inputs from the various sensors while the vehicle is traveling above a minimum speed.
However if it makes you feel better, you can de-energize the airbag system before proceeding by disconnecting the battery, and waiting several minutes afterward to allow the reserve power in the controller to discharge. The chances of accidental deployment will then go from essentially zero, to zero.
