97 Outback sticking valves?

Check engine light came on, though car was running OK. Dealer says it is caused by sticking valves, and I need a $2000+ valve job. Dealer says they will put in "new, improved" valves. Anyone heard of sticking valve problem in the 2.5 DOHC engine? And if it was enough to cause Subaru to come up with a "new, improved" valve, is Subaru doing anything to help us victims?

I don't know if this will help but we had an old truck that had a really bad valve slap becuase of sticking valves. All we did was put in like a quart of marvel mystery oil and run it for a 100 miles and it disapeared.
I haven't a clue if that will work for you but hey its alot cheaper than new valve eh?
