Svx=special vehicle expieriment
It is refreshingly odd to me that not a lot of people are at all familiar with the Svx. It really has little to do with the XT except that they did put some six cyl in them (XT6). The car is so amazing, I wish it had half the support network the Impreza has.
I think total (worldwide) production was around 25,000 but less than 1/2 came to the U.S..
Because of slow sales the last year was 97 1/2.
They are as much fun as they look, and the windows? You get used to them. Make sure your A.C. works if you buy one... or you will want to mount a sunroof wind deflector-BACKWARDS due to the lack of cross-breeze in the car.

Alright... former owner of an SVX here. I loved my 1997 RED SVX. Some people thought the car was whack looking but I loved it. It was my baby. Hard to find wheels that looked good on it though. I had plans to make the car perform every bit as exotic as it looked. Two manifolds meant a very easy twin turbo setup. Was gonna sleeve the engine to bring displacement down a bit to use some aftermarket ej20 forged pistons. Not much had to be done for the handling(gorgeous). had some mufflers from a downed ferrari I was gonna mat to 3inch exhaust system and I was gonna vent the hood evo style for better flow for a small intercooler to front mount (not much room up there). JDM Sti trans would swap easily into the SVX auto. The car was beautiful and miss it very much. D-day was April 26 2002 when a street-racing punk 16 yr old with no liscence swirved into the turning lane to pass somebody and hit my rear going 45 mph. The roofline was buckled and the rear end was totally f#@%ed. Surprisingly none of the glass was broken. But since there were only 640 made in '97 it was an easy total loss from the insurance company. Loved the car... but now I love my WRX.
