If anything there is still more Classic shape impreza's in the UK than bug eye newer ones..
The bug eye never really took off over here..
The newer shape which is available from early next year here I believe much better.. front headlights have returned to look a bit more like the classic shape.. something they should have done instead of the bug eye in the first place IMHO..

Yeah, those are the factory models that Japan was putting out before the new body style went into production and the WRX came to the states. They're pretty fast cars. I grew up in Taiwan and they were deffinitely the street weapon of choice for lots of the tuners there. Took on the mountain roads like demons. Lots of power, real mean sounding. The guys at the HKS shop near me used to get all excited when one pulled up. Some shops would sponsor their own little teams and buy two identical cars for the street that the tuners would take out on weekend nights. Usually Civic type R's or Imprezas. I thought I heard an American big block cruising down the street one night and I turned around and it was two blacked out Imprezas rolling down the avenue. When I was hanging around the bike shop one night, one came snarling down the road, ripped the meanest 180 into an open intersection, all four tires cookin tarmac, and took of in the other direction like a jetboat. That was like two years ago and its still the phattest move I've seen somebody do on the street. Guys with the Ferraris and Supras/RX-7s don't drive them anyway but easy. I saw a 355 being driven up in its torque band once the whole time I lived there. You'd think they'd use them for other things besides collecting in their warehouses and parking in front of night clubs, but apparently the ballers go race go karts when they wanna "feel the g-forces"- so my girlfriend's dad says. But hey, you only live once, right? If I'm gonna have fun, I'd rather drive a WRX and rip some bad moves and have a backseat full of ladies at the end of the night rather than go golf cart speed in a 190mph Italian. If fun's not worth risking, then not risking can't be fun.

Well, I need money to finish flight school and I have a LOT of bills to pay off...I've thought about the conversion and keeping it, but it's just not economically feasible right now...
