What is Torque Capacity of Stock 2004 forester XT Auto Tranny?
Can the stock auto transmission handle 290 torque and still be reliable?
I wanted to upgrade the turbo and do some other mods and dont want my transmission to go out due to the new upgrades.

 

I recall someone running a vf34 (don't remember if it was a 2L or 2.5L) on a 4EAT.

 

i have a 4eat with a vf34 on my 2.5L. it handles the torque just fine. there rated up to 400whp or so i was told.

 

how much horsepower do you have on your auto forester and whats your torque?

 

mine is an 06 wrx with a 4eat, but its the same thing thats in your forester. i have 250whp and 275wtq. that was on a mustang dyno. but it feels like more torque than 275. its more like 300wtq maybe more. they say TC plays with the dyno so its inaccurate with the wtq output on an automatic.

 

what upgrades would you recommend for under 3k?
Intercooler, fuel injectors, turbo from a sti, etc?????

 

im not sure about injectors on a forester. i assume there the same size as my stock ones but i dont know. i got a used sti vf34 turbo, you will need at least an sti intercooler with that turbo. i have a full turbo back exhaust if you dont have one. if you find all the items used in good condition you can make it under 3k. if you cant find them used, i say just get a catted turbo back exhaust,K&N drop in filter and a tune. that will keep you happy for a while.

 

the vf34 and supporting mods should be under $3k
