timing belt replacement

It's about time I get this done. I've been calling around and getting really expensive quotes and I'm not rich. Was wondering if any fellow wrx bro could help me do it? Unfortunately, I don't have any space or tools. I'm in Santa Rosa but willing to drive anywhere in the bay. If you have the space, tools, and knowledge to guide me through it, please let me know. I can compensate with some cash, beer, bud, jokes.. let me know. Thanks in advance bros.

Check with LIC in Novato. Sorry, it isn't a cheap thing to replace, but maybe you'll get lucky and get a hand from members.

negator, Bay area (San Fran-San Jose..ish), California.

OP. GL, i should add that if you KNOW you need to replace the belt, dont drive too far to have the work done. a timing belt is not something you want to take for granted. should that belt snap on your way to replace it....ohhh maann. I didnt get my belt or maintenance work done, but i have been going to All Car in Campbell for my engine rebuild. mainly taking in my block and internals for inspection and a very schmexy valve job Ask for Singh. His son is among the boards and from what i know, they work on Subarus quite often. His son having an 04? STI IIRC, they know Subaru. Give them a call and see what they cant do for you. great people. GL!

+1 on cheaping out. DONT DO IT. dont end up with the recent member with a hole in his timing cover due to idler. lol. a popular well trusted kit is the gates timing belt kit. i just ordered mine and going to install it this weekend. gates is nice and marks the timing marks. they DO sell gates on ebay. but MAKE SURE THE PRODUCT IS OEM GATES. nothing else. GL. there are many vids on here to give you a few pointers.

Hey thanks for the suggestions guys. I've watched a couple tutorials and it does seem straight forward. I think lining everything up correctly is where I need the most help. Now the kit is gates for sure. I'll get the one with the water pump. Its about 280 for it on a website I found. I believe there's a kit from subaru that's about 500. Either way the labor is the killer. Ah it sucks to be poor..lol.
