i think the 05 is ugly. (not just the sti, the wrx and rs) looking at it from the front it just looks...wrong. a front lip helps A LOT though. (please dont flame me)

i dont like the fact that everyone (non-suby owners) know about the STi and constantly ask me if my car is an STi. then i always have to tell them that its just a "regular wrx" then i have to go into why the Sti is better. damn you Sti! haha

yeah pretty much what he said he hit it on the nose, but the 2005 **** to turn the ac and stuff to me were better in the 04 style where it is "IN" the console and not "ON" the console. 2005 has that un-necissary rear fender wanabe thing that serves no purpose. Like he said though, Im happy with what I got overall and probably wouldnt have bought anything else cept maybe a vette now with nos and twin turbo... damn I hate how that car runs tens and kicks my *** every damn time.

 

That is on there because in Japan, the law states you shouldn't be able to see the tires when the car is viewed from above. Subaru needed those fenderthingies to stuff 235's on the STi (or Spec-C, I can't remember).

I hate that an '05 STi just kicked the snot out of me this weekend in autocross, even with PAX.

 

I heard a stock STi even beat some modded STi's with coilovers!!

I can see why in Japan that would be a big deal but here in the states they could have done without the minor rear fender flare..

 

The fender thing is a dot law... at least it is here in hawaii, i have the handbook and it shows how to measure tire extrussion from the car. They had to do it since they now have 8" wide rims in the rear.

 

And the front too

I agree though that they had to do it for legal reasons in the US and not just in Japan, especially since they don't sell the same models in each country. They could have just as easily left that little lip off (which I like by the way).

most of the subaru performance part companies still only stock 5x100 or only have a few 5x114 rims out there. example: subydude has 3 rim styles in 5x114 but has 10-15 styles for 5x100. the cool JDM subaru rims i've seen so far are all 5x100 as well. i'm starting to see 5x114 rims in offsets big enough to clear the brembos but they weren't out there a few months ago when i got my car and i was looking for rims.

i wanted to get a set of Rota SDRs in 5x114 for my winter rims but they don't come in that bolt pattern (yet.) so i had to settle for Rota Boosts. i'm happy with them but i would have liked to have more choices. a similiar issue with Prodrive PFF-7s. however they are finally available in 5x114.
