Blah, blah blah.

my first car was given to me a 1990 acura integra... man i had fun with that thing... . i then purchased my first car, a 99 RS. im 22 now, i turboe'd it and now im thinking of upgrading to a 04 WRX.. im in love with the new front end (remember the mercedez commercial where the new front end was introduced and peoples pupils would form into a heart) yeah.. well my pupils do that.. lol.... anywho id love to buy an STI its just too much money .. i dont want to pay that much or have a big insurance bill....
BTW, i completely agree with WRX Lova... i can totally see where he's coming from.. I'm from europe and my familly functions in a very similar way.. they would have bought me the RS with no questions.. I personally couldn't have em buy it, reason being (and its stupid) if they buy the car i would not be allowed to alter it in anyway (even changing the cd player or putting to many miles)... and the thing about putting your parents in a home.. i think its so true! My granmother lives with us.. im always takin her on joy rides (she loves the scooby more then my dads FX45) so yeah, if you see a young guy with an old lady rolling hard in the DC/metro that would be me and my grandma!

well, i just got to say my parents helped me out on my first car. in fact they bought it for me... oh by the way that car was a 82 cimeron. since i was 16, i had many vehicles, 86 cimeron, 86 olds delt 88, 68 gmc pickup, 84 ranger, 85 ranger, 86 escort. all of those is what i trade/bought during my life time. since i lived on my own i started on the escort for just 500 bucks. later i trade for a 2000 s-10 then two years later i traded for 2002 explorer. i hated that explorer so i got rid of it an got the 2003 wrx wagon. i don't regret ever owning any of my cars. i did a lot of learning on them. i believe i can drive pretty well. for me just haveing a wrx, and driving it fast as posible, in and out of curves and changeing lanes like crazy... well still scares the sh*t out of me. as far a teen 16-20 having an sti is one lucky s.o.b. i wish i could have had a car like that. i could get one now... but i would not have much to live off of. i am in the military for over 5 years. i'm an E-5. i think i make pretty good. i got a very nice house, a child and a wife. like i said i could get it, but i wont. i'll just take the wrx, spend like 3-4k on it and make it just as fast as the sti (1/4 time.) but i don't mind the stock. i still like fu**ing with those little rice cars that wanna race me. its fun. if ever you were able to get an sti. good luck man. have fun but be safe. don't be a jack a$$ on the roads ( tailgating, cutting people off, etc, etc)
peace

Guys, this is my first post here. I am a resident at ls1.com
Anyways, this will probably **** a lot of you off, and admittidly, it would **** me off if I would not be benifiting from the situation..
My sister, yes, a GIRL, has around 40 grand for a car. She is SEVENTEEN. The money is from an insurance settlement.
So.....guess what cars "cool spoiler and rims" has caught her eye?
Shes going to test drive one tomorrow...the lack of radio will probably turn her off, but her #1 priority is looks. Its kinda sad that she could get this car, as she has no reason of gettting it over a stock wrx. However, this means I get to drive it heh. I think she is responcible enough, shes had a clean record for 18 months now, not even a ticket (better than i was) and can drive stick quite well. She won't be paying insurance, and will be paying for gas sporadicly.
My main fear is the carloads of guys like you (no offense, me included if I wasn't related lol) that will freak out when they see this tall blonde girl in a damn race car. I'll update you guys as to how it goes and if she ends up getting it.
Nice forum by the way.

This is a great post. I think that general wrx is very smart. I am going to agree with the older set because there is one thing to remember. You may be able to afford payments with or without insurance, but what about maintenence? Even if your car is new it will need brakes, tires, oil, coolant, fuel filters and the list goes on. I know when i was 16 ish i drove like a madman. I had to put two sets of good tires on my MONTECARLO SS(87'), in the first year. I went through gas and parts like i was made of money. I had to get three jobs just to pay for the parts i broke on a weekend. Its just something to thik about. I think that if you really want an STI or what ever in life and you can see an opportunity to get it, go for it. Good luck and drive safe.
