Swapped engin won't start! Help.

Ok so my ej20 blew a rod bearing and I dropped in a used ej20 with around the same mileage 59000. Now that everything is put back together it wi barely start and if I does it wants to die right now away. I got it running for a couple mins once and it was misfirring on 2 and 3. Plugs were just changed and I tried swapping coil packs to no avail. Please any suggestions...could I have missed something with the install? How do u check for timing to be off a tooth since it was from a wreckers? Thanks

you have to pull the timing covers off to check timing.

you didn't change the timing belt while the engine was out??

Check it with a light or just crank it till the marks line up and see. No i couldn't afford it on a very limited budget, but I inspected it and it looked great no cracks plus the engine only has 59xxx timing change not till 95 or 105 I forget
Anything else to look for? I'm checking spark right now and so far good on 2 and 4

Did you try the simple stuff? Like checking the ground for the fuel pump. There is one on top of the intake manifold! I did a build got it all back in and forgot that one lead and ... No start bolted it up and it's back on!

Check your fuel lines. Might be flip flopped.

it doesnt sound to much like timing in my opinion, did you check all the sensors? maybe the engine has a bad sensor.
