subarus and hill holder clutches
Do all the current manual tranny Subarus have the hill holder clutch built-in or is it an exclusive to the Forrester?
I'm about to buy an Impreza WRX Wagon, and would like a manual transmission. It would be a plus to have that hill holder clutch, since my wife will be driving it too.
I came real close to ordering the 2003 model, but decided to wait for the 2004.

Teach your wife to drive a MT and she won't need a hill holder clutch.
I personally think they are quite stupid, it's an extra cost that could be avoided by proper driving technique. I've never once been in a situation where I would "need" something like that, and I live in West Virginia, we have some STEEP roads around here.
Now if your planning on taking it rock crawling, hell yeah... get tha hill holder!!!
Oh and no it's not an option on the WRX, if you need a hill holder, a MT WRX is NOT the car for you

when you come to a complete stop, and depress the clutch, it engages the hill holder. w/o getting into exactly how it works, it puts the e-brake on until the clutch is let out to a certain point.
i thought it was a cool feature. i know how to drive a mt, have for a long time. but it was still kinda cool to use.
