It's exactly what it sounds like...when you're on a hill going up, and you have to stop, I think you can put it in neutral and let go of the clutch while stepping on the brake to stop. Except when you step on the clutch and let go of the brake, the car doesn't roll down the hill so you can shift to 1st and not worry about letting go of the clutch halfway and really quickly steppin on the accelerator so that the car doesn't roll backwards. I think that's about right...hope that helped Opusxer.

yeah that was pretty much it..
the way t work it is to
1 apply brake
2 apply clutch
3 let off brake(car will stay)
4 take off like you would normally. the onlyreason im skeptic about the hillholder is that i dont know how the adjusting will be. because i know withthe new cars i played around with ita nd i noticed that the brake is held on even if u are slightly off the clutch
you could also use the hand brake trick.
just apply the hand brake, and as let off the brake pedal to apply gas as usual, then let the hand brake down slowly as you apply gas. your car won't roll back at all. it's the classic hill holder...

i just use the clutch, if the light is about to go green and im on a hill, ill let off the clutch to its friction point and then i let off the brake and give it gas and let off the clutch more...holding at the friction point will hold the car inplace

I often get some newbie driver who creeps up to my rear bumper when I'm stuck at a red light. I resort to the handbrake - simple and foolproof. When there are no vehicles behind me, I don't bother with it.
