Subaru and SCCA
I don't see what you're complaining about. It's FREE. My SCCA membership has helped me get discounts and the reading material is interesting. In fact, I opted to re-join. I think the local SCCA members do a great job in setting up auto-x events, rallys, etc. to get more "regular" folks involved (it also helps keep kids off of the streets). I don't currently participate in any events but I may reconsider in the future. I think it was a cool thing for Subaru to do. I've always enjoyed watching SCCA events but I never really knew what they were all about until I got my free membership.
btw, you don't have to "abusive" to your car when participating in events (track days, auto-x's, etc). I can still drive my car "spiritedly" without abusing it.
