subaru 2.5rs sti edition
i am looking at buying a subaru 2.5 rs sti.
it has sti on the front of the door and on the back trunk and also on the front of the grill.
did sti ever make a 2.5 rs edition
is this a legit sti car
how do i find out ?
im not sure of the year. fairly new though
has the same design as the last couple of years.
i thought it was an wrx at first.

Never heard of a 2.5RS STi. The RS was a North America-only car until the new body style came out, and there was no RS STi in the old body style, so if the car you are looking at is the GC8-style body, then it's an RS with STi stickers/badges on it. Might have STi parts on it, but I've never heard of a 2.5RS STi.

ok i am going to the dealership tomorrow to see what he wants for it.
does sti have a site that show what parts they offer so i would know what to look for.
say it was an sti. would the vin number tell if it was an sti from a normal rs ?
by the way i seen the wrx sti at the chicago auto show.
all i can say is AWESOME looking car!!

there is no suck thing. they must of put stickers and badges on the car and are trying to push it an an "STi edition". trust me, there is no such thing, and i would avoid that dealer.

Dont be a fool man. there was Never a RS 2.5 STI. Like DEEDUB said they probable have STI stickers on it because it may have some aftermarket parts on it.
This reminds me of a guy that thought he bought a Civc SI. He brought the car drove the car and liked the car. This guy knows nothing about cars but wants an SI. After he bought the car he asked his Mechanic to check it out. His mechanic checked the car out and found out that the car actually had a DX (d16- w/110hp) engine not a SI (B16 - w/160hp). Moral of the story... When buying a used car dont go by urslef, bring a friend who is a mechanic or someone that is familiar with the car ur interested in if you dont know about cars.
Chad if you buy that car just because of some damn stickers and the car has not aftermarket part... ur an Idiot.

chad,
If the car has STi stickers on it and it is indeed a 2.5 RS and in good condition and priced right and passes all inspections and such, then I'd say go for it. But I agree with the others. There never was a STi RS ever. These stickers were probably placed there by the previous owner. This may be a good thing. The car may have mods and may save you money from having to modifiy the car your self. On the other hand, it may mean the car was flogged by the previous owner at the track or strip. You never know. This is just another risk of purchasing a used car from the dealer. You will never know because you never met the origional owner. If you like the car, and it's all good then go for it. Join the crowd and enjoy your new Subaru Impreza. My fiance did and she didn't regret the decision once. Mine new and hers used.
