sti radiator cap

What does a STI radiator cap do,if anything, for performance. They want $45 for one.

i believe it has a higher release pressure. stock is 15lbs. don't know what that one it though.

this STI radiator cap on eBay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=10368 is a "high-pressure" cap at 1.3kg/cm² OR 18.486 psi... i assume all the STI caps are the same. according to the eBay site, "the boiling point of the coolant is raised, thus improving cooling effeciency and preventing overheating. Features silicon rubber on the sealing section which is superior in heat resistance, preventing permanent deformation and pressure reduction." hope this helps.

Just a thought, A few people have had their radiators failed on here (Leaks)

I wonder if they wore using the STI cap?

Being its higher release pressure, It could be a factor.
