In the latest issue of Maxim (the one with Gina Gershon on the cover), the 2004 STi was selected as the Speed Demon of the Year. Very nice! Not sure I agree with some of their other choices, but I'm sure someone else can point out the flaws in their selections.

My only question is why they picked an STi that had OBVIOUSLY been grounded out; if you look at the bottom of the front end in the large picture, it's clear that someone misjudged some driveways and did some noticeable damage to it.

Oh yeah, that Infiniti (?) SUV they nominated as Best Multi-Tasker is fugly. Worst looking vehicle on the road next to the new Accord sedans, IMO.

 

Obviously you are not old enough to remember the B-grade horror move "The Car" or for that matter the TV show "The Green Hornet" which starred Bruce Lee as 'Kato', which was later aped byt the producers of 'Batman'.

In both "The Car" and "The Green Hornet" their was a 'Supercar' featured which looked kind of like a wagoon but could have been a tall sedan but drove like a sports sedan though could drive over un-paved road (not 'off-road') like the 'General Lee'. Its obvious to me the designers at Infiniti had the 30 and over crowd in mind when the penned and developed the FX 35/45. This sporty SUV is "The Car" incarnate.
The FX's lines are avant garde though based in function the same IWC watches and Timberland boots. Their divergent lines belie a unique and functional character of being. It takes a socially leading & unbound personality to sport one of these, and those that do are most often sporting a broad smile even during the rainiest of moments.

Just as Benelli shotguns and Gordon Setter retirevers may be best described as the discriminating huntsmans tool of choice, there are those who walk to a slightly different if not eclectic beat. Those folks, like myself, appreciate the uniquely satisfying lines, moves & motions of the FX 35/45 in contrast to the everyday and everywhere Tonka trunk style SUV's you see in any American neighborhood as sourced from the Big Three.
