Rebuild help:(

hi guys just wanted some input about a motor i had rebuilt.

the situation is that i have my car at a local shop right now dont want to say where. so they took my block to a local machine shop. and after 2 weeks they tell me that my block is not repairable.and im going to need a new short block. my question is that they quoted me on labor for the machine shop and everything so am u still going to have to fork the labor? and also wouldnt they know right off the bat after they diseemble the block that the block couldnt be re use just asking for opinions? im just saying why would it take them two weeks to realize the block wasnt repairable?

If the damage is really bad (visible scored/cracked piston walls), then yes. But most of the time they need to measure things to make sure that everything will still be in spec after boring, honing the cyclinder walls. Did you have a crack ringland?
