Here's one for all you STi owners:
Is it wrong to roll an STi with a WRX trunk (Winged or wingless) let's see your thoughts on this one.
On the topic at hand...I have two opinions.
In the US, I think the STi is able to be considered it's OWN car. At least until the 2006 came out it had an entirely different engine and transmission.
Where as in Japan, it still held a 2.0 and the STi was more of a tuned version of the WRX.
Either way. I say it's ok to put the STi badge on the car.
BUT, if you were to ask me about putting the GT-R emblem on a lower model Skyline....well that would get some different opinions from me.

sure
Can you buy aftermarket parts for my Skyline that were manafactured by Nissan under the GT-R name?
no
STi is a parts division of Subaru, you can buy STi bits and bolt them onto your WRX..
I see no problem there if you want to put on a sticker that supports your parts vendor.

Also in case people didn't see my explanation on the last page here it is again:
Here is my opinion/correction on what many have said in this thread.
The STi is different from the WRX which is the performance model below it because it has different things performance and looks wise. A few examples would be different SEATS and a WING and H.I.D.s etc. The STi is a trim, the Impreza is the car.
The Honda Integra in Japan comes in more models than the Type-R. The model below it is called the Type iS. It comes with different things performance and looks wise. For example the Type-R comes with different SEATS, a Type-r WING and H.I.D.s along with other stuff. The Type-R is the trim the Integra is the car.
See where I'm going here?

Now if you have Dinnan parts on your 330i, then sure, put a Dinnan badge on it if you like. Dinnan isn't a trim level for BMW cars. You can't go to a BMW dealership and purchase a 330i Dinnan model. But you can go to your local Subaru dealership and ask for an Impreza WRX STI and they will be happy to lighten your wallet for you.
If there were no STI trims for Subaru's vehicle line, then this would make sense. But since there are STI trim lines for Subaru vehicles, placing an STI badge on a car that didn't come with that trim line would lead people to believe that car is something that it isn't.

personally i think its dumb.
its pink.
it doesnt make u go faster or handle better.
the only reasons i could see someone putting one on for are:
1) weight distribution (lol ya right)
2) you like when annoying kids ask about your STi

i could see putting it on a motorcycle cuz my motorcycle horn sounded like squeaky horn on a childs bicycle with training wheels.
most car horns are pretty audible. =D
i guess it could help for nearly deaf drivers (how do they have their lisence?)
