I have always felt that it is not bad if you are running STi parts on your subaru. What does everyone else think.

IMO, it's not wrong to put a STI badge on your ride. If its for looks then go for it, if it's to let people know that you have STI parts, then go for it. It really doesnt matter. A lot of similar generations of parts are interchangeable anyway. Like is it wrong to have a RS wingless trunk on a STI?
Just don't put a honda sign on your suby =)

How does it not go with the topic? He is talking about putting STI badges on his car. Kinda goes hand in hand with an STI wing as well as a STI badge on the trunk. Thanks for your input, but get lost.

I think it's OK. STi is different than, say, Type-R. STi is not only a model of Impreza, but they also manufacture parts for all Subaru's. An STi badge isn't saying you have and STi, it's just saying you have STi parts on your car. Type-R is just a model of Integra - Type-R doesn't make any parts that aren't on that car.

What i meant is like putting a NISMO sticker on a Nissan or a Ralli-Art sticker on a Mitsubishi. I guess in the US we only have the WRX STi, not the Legacy STi or Forester STi so the USMD market may have a little different of a feel.

I don't know if you can say it's either right or wrong, but it's still no differen't then the Type R, RT-R, Cobra, etc. badges that other people use.
If a badge didn't come with my car from the factory then I'm not going to put that badge on. It's false advertising.

yes, but a Type-R is the actual car. STi is not the car, its the tuning company associated with the car. Just like Nismo or Ralli-Art...
Think of if like this:
STi = Mugen, Nismo, TRD, RalliArt, SVT,etc...
(Not - Type R, GT-R, Cobra, etc....)
STi = In house tuner (Tuned from the factory)
Now if you but a WRX emblem on say...a 2.5i it would seem funny (2.5i WRX)
But if you but STi emblem on the same 2.5i.....it would still seem kind of funny but it has a different meaning (2.5i STi)

The GT-R, Cobra, Type R, etc. are factory versions of cars, but a car like the STI has a tuner company name badge and also has it's own trim level of cars. It's no different than how a Skyline is made into a GT-R except that the improvements are credited to a tuner company instead of the OEM.
The Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart is it's own trim level, thus given the badging to indicate that. Since it has it's own trim level, badging a Lancer DE with a Ralliart badge suggests the higher trim level... same goes for the STI badge. An STI badge on a WRX would suggest that STI upgraded the car at the factory as the vin number indicates. I don't know if that would be right or wrong, but I think it's at least misleading. Whether the badging looks cool or has a deeper meaning is up to the individual.
