pointless info from soa regarding 05 wrx
so i emailed them to find out some info on the 05 wrx. here is what i wrote:
I was wondering when the 05 wrx will arrive in illinois or the states in general. I heard that the warranty will be one year longer and two new colors will be available. Is it true that the interior will be slightly changed? Or is it only in Canada that this will happen? Are there any other changes that will occur in the 05 WRX? When will information be posted? Thanks for your time.

The 2005 Impreza WRX models are expected to be available at Subaru dealers throughout the United States by June. There are additional color choices, and other changes for this model year, and the complete information generally becomes available just as the vehicles begin arriving at the dealers. Once this information becomes available, be sure to request a brochure or visit your local Subaru dealer to take a test drive.
I think the info was pointless because anyone of us can get info about a car once it hits showrooms. sorry for the long and pointless message from SOA.

This is nothing new. Subaru spends a lot of time and money on marketing and they release information when they are ready.
Remember the coup they pulled off with the announcement of the USDM STi? Subaru of America waited until Mitsubishi had announced the official arrival of the USDM Lancer EVO, then made an official announcement of their own, timed to take some of the fanfare away from their rivals.

EDIT: this info is for new STi's, not WRX, but i thought i may be useful anyway.
SOA is a large corporation with some high caliber marketing minds on their payroll. It is likely they put a lot of thoughts and research into their marketing effort, and their decision of when and how to release information on their new cars/models isn't random.
I know how impatient some of us can get, especially when we're trying to decide whether we should purchase the end-of-year model with good savings or we should wait to buy the new one. Without any substantial info on the new, yet-to-release models, it's a tough decision. I bought an '04, knowing that I'll either will pat myself in the back for saving several thousand dollars, or kick myself in the **** because the new model arrives with significant improvement! Of course, this is probably the effect that SOA (and the dealerships) is trying to achieve. Sell as many currently available models as possible. Another reason is product positioning and timing with competing manufacturers (i.e. Evo).
