First mods?
First Modd
Hey u guys, i just recently bought a 04 WRX, and im wondering wat the first modd should be? Im thinkin in the price range of around 200-350 max. Im thinking of just gettin an intake, but ive heard that all the intake does is give u the nice sound of ur turbo spoolin up, and doesnt give that much hp gain or response to your car. Got any good ideas for mods around 200-$350? Hit me up w/ suggestions u guys thanks a lot.
if you wanna handle better get an adjustable rear swaybar. it changes the way the car hanles all together making it have more of a tendancy to oversteer rather than understeer. it makes a HUGE differance.
if you wanna go faster get a catless uppipe. takes a few hours to put in but its way worth it. if you got the money gruppe-s has a helix upipe/downpipe combo for cheap. comes with the cel fix too. also a very noticalbe differeance

If you want to hear the turbo a bit more, take out the snorkus.
The rear adjustable sway bar and endlinks could work.
IC Hoses are another possibility.
If you were to save it up a bit more and bring the level to $690 or so. There would be more choices like
Catback Exhaust System- might be able to pick one up used for less.
Cobb Accessport- reflashes are quite popular
Rota Wheels- althought it would only be the wheel, you would still need the tire. D'oh

IMHO, the WRX needs SUSPENSION mods first. The WRX has adequate power out of the box but the handling leaves much to be desired. With that being said, for $350 I would get the following:
1. Adjustable rear swaybar (Cusco, Whiteline or Perrin)
2. Heavy duty endlinks (I prefer the Perrins)
-these will help reduce understeer (but not eliminate it altogether)for better handling.
3. Whiteline Anti-lift Kit (ALK)
-this will also help with the handling of the car. It will help you put power down to the ground on hard turns and under acceleration.

How much would the rear sway bars, and the endlinks cost me though?

Do you plan to do all of your own installations? See ScoobyMods.com for tutorials with pics.

-either STI takeoffs (springs/struts/tophats) or coilovers (I've heard good things about Cusco Zero 2s if used more for the street than on the track).
-front and rear strut tower bars
-better wheels/tires combo, either 17" Rotas w/ Kumho MXs (inexpensive route) or 17" forged JDM wheels (Advans, Volks, Works, etc.) w/ Bridgestone S03s (expensive route)
-better brakes (Stoptech BBK, hands down)
These mods will greatly enhance the handling and stopping power of the WRX. If you have time to read a good article here's a link to a Whitleline review of:"Power vs Handling"
Now for the power side, most everyone will tell you to get an uppipe, TBE and a reflash (Cobb, Vishnu or I-speed). This will give you plenty of power. If you want more, you can always do the bigger turbo upgrade along w/ the necessities (injectors, fuel pump, bigger intercooler, etc). Whatever you decide, good luck and happy modding.
