i dont really mind the new design, i just feel that the new design is not subaru. and the interior is IMO not as great as previous years. the engine upgrades do seem to be a highlight in the new redesign though.

I have seen enough pictures of the new WRX to determine I don't like it. People are saying, "Oh yeah just put a new grill on and some different tail lights and it will be fine" Now this is fine for a person who likes to buy a brand new car just to change how it looks, but not for some people who don't focus on exterior oriented modding.
I currently own an 02 WRX wagon and I am completely happy with the way it looks, the only modification to the exterior is my prodrive P1s. This new WRX definitely won't be considered aesthetically pleasing by just slapping on a set of rims, that's for sure.
Is this car really worth the compromise of looks for performance? Is any $20k+ investment worth a compromise on your behalf? Only a few on these forums really enjoy how this car looks, and that is fine. In my opinion, Subaru won't be getting my vote on this new body style, and since my $ is equivalent to me voting, they won't be getting it this time.

Yup. I buy cars to drive them, not stare at them. You can't drive good looks. Looks are nice and something to consider, but it's still got the Subaru guts, and that's more important to me than Subaru's confused marketing campaign.

To my recollection, I can drive a car that looks good. Looking bad is not a prerequisite to performance.
That's equivalent to saying you can't drive performance. Good looks is something a car can have, as is performance, so it is easy to see how I can drive something that looks good.
I agree with you here, those "Subaru guts" are very important, yet why settle with only performance when we know that Subaru has it in them to create beautiful performance based cars (many of you think the 04-05 models were just that)
So as I said, I will wait until something with those "good looks" and performance come back around since I know Suby has it in them.

01-07 Impreza owners have had our perceptions altered by our affection for the cars. Take out the Suby spirit of these cars, and I garanty the majority of us would consider these cars ugly... or worse.

It's nice to have a good looking car, sure. But the 04/05 models are not anywhere in the same dimention as beatiful. I put them at the bottom of the list of the GD bodies.

Suby does have it in them. And it's called the Legacy GT.
