Hello everyone,

i'm new and will soon buy a WRX but what i wanna know is

is there a difference between the

'00 , '01, '02 , '03 , and '04 models?

i've noticed that the '00 has to extra lil hood skoop-thingies...
any information would help GREATLY!!

so every diff would be kewl...like body style (for sedans only)
and engine n stuff. thanks!

 

There are 3 distinct body styles within those year ranges. The '00/'01 Imprezas did not include a WRX here in the US. The '00/'01 2.5RS is one of the better looking Subies as far as I'm concerned. It's also a great auto-X car, as it has gobs of low end torque. Subaru also produced a turbo version of the 2.5 RS, the 2.5RS-T...though I doubt you'll be able to find one of those jewels.

The US-spec WRX was introduced in '02. There were a few minor cosmetic changes for the '03 model...lighted ignition switch...different clutch setup, etc.

The '04 WRX has a new front and rear end treatment. I believe the '04 seats are different, also. There's also a sunroof available for the '04 model...but, you have to buy a "package" to get the sunroof (from what I understand). I believe there's a 6-speed in the WRX for '04, too. Of course, the Sti version of the WRX will be available sometime in '04...probably towards the end of the summer.

You also get a center mounted tach with red gauges needles and the trim on the momo steering wheel emblem is red and also the seats are now one piece(no seperate headrest) for a sportier look

 

The 04 also comes with ABS with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD). I don't believe 02/03 came with EBD, but I could be wrong.

 

the seats are also getting wider for the more "robust" backside of the American consumer. i think what they are trying to tell us is that we are to fat to fit in their car. just something that made me chuckle
