Car Info: Considering a Sti '06
New member, new driver, new mind.

Hey, i'm new here and i'm thinkin about gettin a '06 STI. Problem is that cars aren't my specialty and i'm probably sure i need to know alot about cars before i get a sti. So if you guys could tell me about what kind of upgrades for the car come first that'd be great. I'm also wondering if i upgrade a car's performance even though i pay for warranty and all that stuff, is upgrading voiding the warranty?

Welcome to i-club.

Getting anything aftermarket on your car (exhaust, intake, bov, suspension, etc) will void your warrenty.

You may get away with SPT or STI parts. (SPT and STI are the performance side parts of subaru)

Well this is far from true. Unless the dealer can prove your 'upgrade' is the reason for OEM failure then all is well. They can't void your warranty for engine failure because you have coil overs.

BUT ~ If you aren't much into cars, then the STI bone stock has plenty of ways to write it or YOU off. Get used to 300/300 and when you are floored and not scared is the canyons... THEN you can think about mods.

If you can't listen to reason then the SPT intake and cat-back system will give you about 40 hp more and WILL NOT VOID YOUR WARRANTY. Period.

Welcome to i-Club.
You are at the right place do a search and you should alot of info here.
To my understanding any catback exhaust or air filter will not void any part
of your warranty depending on your Subaru Dealership you choose to go to.
Some are strict and some are not.

Ok

And with that, what is a good, inexpensive cat-back system for an 06'?

If your going to mod a Subaru it is going to be expensive. Especially when you have an STi because they already come with stuff that are high performance and you want to get aftermarket stuff that is better, Therefore Even more money. In the end, you'll begin to think that you need more power and go buy more upgrade, and when new stuff comes out you'll want to buy that too. Yes, It is endless. So don't complain about price! It's all worth it, if you really enjoy it. ^.^

Welcome to i-Club. Dang you're only 15 and you already want to get an STi.

First thing is that, the STi is already fast just in stock form. Since you mentioned you're a new driver, I'm sure you'll appreciate the 300HP already. So my advice is to just stick with the car in stock form.

Like someone said above, SPT parts will not void your warranty, so that's probably your best bet.

haha yeah, my brother's getting a evo9 so i said what the hell, gettin a STi couldn't hurt. anyways i loved the sti concept. but you know. i don't know which one to get. the 06 model or the lower models because i have heard some people hating on the new front of the 06 model. but is there really any difference? just to know, what year sti would you guys get?

Hey, would a CF hood void the warranty? no one put that out there yet =p

man my suggestion is to get used to driving PERIOD for a while before you even think about getting a STi....

the capabilites are far too high for a new driver, even in daily driving.... besides, youll pay out the nose for insurace for a new driver with a 300hp car......

besides, i cant stand to see youngsters write off completely good cars, not saying you would. its just happened before......

my two cents, take it as is.....
