I went with a 2000 RS BRP, because I like the body style and they are rarer than the WRXs. I didn't go for the WRX motor swap, however; clutch, lightweight flywheel, heads, cams, suspension, tires and increased engine displacement, along with every bolt on, exhaust and cat modification available did not change the character of the car, just made it real quick.

as a guy who put a turbo on a miata, i will say that the realiability factor can be a big thing. Yeah, it goes like stink, but there are times when i just don't always trust it. I picked up a 97 OBS so i don't have to worry about it! Plus, it will often nickle & dime you to death...
When the OBS bites the bullet...i'll be shopping for a WRX wagon or a turbo forester!

you'll have to forgive me if i don't get all the abbreviations yet, still working on them... the gc8 is the four door, i believe... my new question of the day is, what is v7 (version 7) and how does that differ from the other engines... also, what is BRP? plz be patient with me, just trying to understand a lil more before i sink into this more fully. oh, here are you bananas :banana: :banana: :banana:

newbie help (from one to another!):
GC8 is the general term for the 93-01 body style. each year/body style /door # has a different code, but that is the overall catch phrase for them...
don't know the specifics on V7
BRP = Blue Ridge Pearl. Darker blue than the World Rally Blue (WR Blue or WRB) Nice color, IMHO...offered (i think) on the 00 & 01 GC8 RS's and the New Age RS's as well...
