I Have A Few Questions I Need Help With!

I have a 96 Impreza L. I was thinking of turning the airbox upside down so it points to the underside of the hood. Then cut a hole in the hood and put a hood scoop on it. Basically this would be a homemade ram air kit. Just wondering if anyone thinks this would help my car out of if it’s even worth the hassle. Would my car even know the difference or would I have to reset the ECU??? Also, on rainy days I would have to worry about water ingestion. How do factory WRXs fix this with the functional hood scoop?
Thanks,
Cody Palmer

The hood scoop on a WRX is for the intercooler and not the intake. Water can get in there and it's not a problem.

i would say its not worth the hassle. if you dont have one already, just get an aftermarket high flow air filter, such as a K&N and that should make a difference.

Stupid me...I knew the scoop went to the intercooler but for some reason it just didn't click in my mind.
