Hey everyone. I have a 2005 WRX Wagon and Im trying to diagnose an intermittent fuel issue Im having. All signs so far point to the fuel pump. However, recently I changed the in-tank filter and I noticed that the pump assembly did not have the plastic cover around the strainer as well as the hose from the plastic cover to that white valve thing. Could this cause an issue? What is that piece called and what does it do? Thanks all.

isnt that the return line back into the anti surge bowl or whatever that plastic canister is called.
