EDIT: I just checked Yahoo! Autos and it says the WRX 5MT weighs 3085lbs. It says the Forester 2.5 XS 5MT weighs 3095lbs. The XT will have slightly less HP than the WRX, but more torque avaliable at a lower RPM (tranny gearing will no doubt be different)...I wonder what kind of 0-60 and 1/4 mile times we should expect...Should be interesting.

well thats not too much of weight dif. now is it? i thought it was more than that. my bad. www.spomotorsports.com has parts for legacy's, imps, and foresters. yeah, xt should have 210hp instead of 300, o well. still a cool car to have here in the us.

I don't get it unless you live in the country and have to travel crappy roads all the time...I'm not saying they arent' good cars, they just don't do it for me.
It's exciting to hear they are going to do more with the 2.5 turbo engine.

BlingBlingBlue and WRXSTIle:
What year Foresters are you talking about? I wonder if the new-generation Forester that is currently on sale (released for 2002) has a better suspension.
The Forester is pretty much the exact same thing as the WRX wagon, so I'm hoping the performance of the XT will be close to it.

how about an LSD in the back end like the rex?
personally i don't see what the advantages are over the impreza platform. slightly larger interior volume but a higher COG... a little more ground clearance? i'm sure the coefficient of drag is a bit worse.
it's nice to have attractive choices though!

As for the advantages, the COD is almost as good if not just as good as an Impreza. The body weight is about the same as an Impreza wagon. And sure, the ride heigh is much higher stock, but you can go much lower with a forester by using Impreza designed suspensions which also lower the COG of course. Or, you can go nuts and make it into an off-roading machine if you want and raise it more

Anothing thing that the Forester has, besides more interior room, is a very nice interior. I really like that interior.
What really sets it apart for me is that the engine is a detuned STI engine, unlike the WRX. I'd much rather have that engine to play with than a WRX engine, me likey torque

Also, there has always been a spirit about subaru for being different, and a turbo forester seems like just the route to go for folks who like to set themselves apart, but thats just my opinion
