Angry Double center console

My WRX was one of the last of the 02's, so I did not have a choice of what interior stuff I might have wanted. I have not grown to love the double console, as it is mightly in the way when you want to do some real shifting. Can a stock single console be obtained, and how much of a hassle might it be to replace it?

I do love the auto dimming mirror, though.

Are you talking about the arm rest?
I'm sure all you have to do is unscrew the top attachment from the base and order a lid from the parts department.

Yes, the center arm rest. It is much too high, although useful at times: mobile phone, wife's wraparound sun glasses, coupla packs of Mentos for snacks on the road, etc.

I am a pretty tall person 6-1 so this wont apply to everyone, but with the factory armrest extension I can shift while having my arm snuggly pressed into the armrest. I have the factory short throw shifter and thats what makes it possible but I think I can get a better quicker shift because of it.

If there are members around you, see if anyone wants it, and trade.

Or else pay the $60 for a new one or something like that from the dealer.
