Do you want to keep the STi a super low production car?
Do you want to keep the STi a super low production car?
i dont know about you guys, but i really like the idea of the STi only being produced in low numbers, like 3-4k. a lot of people say "well, subaru will probably bump up production after they all sell like the wrx" im pretty sure subaru knows what kind of reaction they are going to get with the STi and chose to produce a low number of vehicles anyway.
this is a really special car, and if i see atleast one a day im gonna cry.

This keeps the STi and WRX out of the hands of the collectors, who won't have much desire to keep that not-so-unique or rare car hidden away in an air-conditioned garage somewhere, to eventually be auctioned off like it was a Porsche 959 or a JDM Skyline GT-R.
How many times have we seen moderate to high-dollar sports cars and coupes driven by people who *look* (a subjective term) like they bought the car just to be seen driving it? That's a waste of machinery. Put these cars in the hands of the enthusiasts. I don't buy a car like the STi because it's rare or because of its resale value - I want to own STi or WRX because they perform great and have great hop-up potential, while being performance bargains at the dealer.
If I wanted to pay a premium over MSRP, I'd have gotten on the waiting list for the Lancer Evolution (EVO VIII).

how many bone stock wagon wrx's do i see daily being driven by soccer moms, a ton.
the price of the STi will eventually come down, look at the 350z, mini, or other "hot cars"
enthusiasts will always be able to purchase an STi, its just the mass market appeal im worried about.

personally i would like to see the car kept in the "limited" productions numbers. i see so many wrx's around, which is great dont get me wrong. the STi is something special, and in order to keep it that way limited numbers are needer. if everybody and their brother were able to go out and buy one, it would still be an awsome car, just not as special. sorry for the analogy, but take hondas NSX. the car is sick, and it always will be. but if i saw one everyday, i wouldn't really care that much about it. everybody wants they can't have, so by keeping production low demand is kept sky high.

I don't think it should be MP3-like limited production, but it should be kept to a limited production or it will loose its' uniqueness appeal. Already the market is flooded with 350Zs which eventually decreases the appeal and longing disire that people had for it when it was not available yet.
Make enough so that everyone that really wants one can get one, but not enough so that everyone who thinks its kinda cool and go and grab one instead of a different car which is easier to get but not quite as cool. If that makes sense at all ;-p
