Crap-can racing: The 24 Hours of LeMons

If you've ever wanted to go road-racing on the cheap, the 24 Hours of LeMons is an endurance racing series for cars that cost no more than 500 bucks.

There are two events left in 2008, October 18-19 at MSR Houston in Texas and December 27-28 at Thunderhill in Northern California. Registration for Texas is closed (the race is open to spectators), but there is still time to apply for Thunderhill. Thunderhill applications are due by 10/18.

Entry forms can be found at www.24hoursoflemons.com.

There have been a handful of Subarus that have shown up…here's your excuse to drag that car out from behind the garage!

Thats hilarious, I never even knew about it... I think this might be the first time I wished I drove a total bucket.

I really wanted to do it this year with some friends, but we have no moneys. When you have gone through the whole project, it will be a couple grand total with roll cage, safety equipment, wheels tires etc. but still. I watched it at Altamont - very exciting stuff, really cool racing

me and my friends do destruction derbies lol...

we have four spare motors, and three spare trannies, all the same lol.. we have one cage, we just cut transfer and reweld into a new car lol.. we use a bucket seat that we custom mount, with seat belt. we have learned the ins and outs of making a great car...

this looks like our next project! maybe... or we may just stick with destruction derbies lol
