24 hours of Lemons July 7th & 8th :)

just got our acceptance letter and paperwork.

Anyone else doing this or know about it?
Bascially you have $500 that you can spend...that is for the car, engine, mods etc.....unlimited budget for safety like roll cage and tires etc. but you can only spend 500 for the car and everything else.

cant wait! http://24hoursoflemons.com/

I read this in a magazine (Car & Driver or Road & Track). Sounds really fun. Wish I had the money to do it (plus i'm not old enough lol).

yeah...i dunno why they made it so much earlier this year....maybe its because the track is blowing up with events....we have 8 driftbattle events with 4 or 5 more exhibitions scheduled for altamont this year too....so that just shows how many events are happening.

now comes the hard part....finding the car!

'86 GL-10 Turbo wagon with pushbutton 4WD, needing a headgasket job is what we found when we looked on CL.

The price was FREE!!

Parts to fix this car: $499 (Employee discount helps)

You ought to look through CL, and you might find something just as good or better.

+1

Sounds like fun, someone should do it.
I would if I lived closer, and had time off.

Technically it's not a real 24 hours. You get to sleep, get up a certain time next day, and start again.
It does sound like fun. Almost like the Grassroots Motorsports challenge they used to have yearly (1999-spend up to $199, 2000-spend up to $2000,etc.etc.) .
Good luck Nat !

What's your team name/theme?

Our's is "The Hellen Keller Driving School...Because the Blind deserve to drive."

Good luck in getting your car together.
