can snowboards fit in 99-01 RS trunk?

doing my research on the previous generation (99-01) impreza's, I realized that they don't have a split folding rear seat! I am surprised, given that Subaru is aiming for the winter/utility/sports people with these cars and it's usually a given that they need someplace to store their hockey sticks, ski poles, snowboards, etc in the car.
So my next question is: can anybody fit a snowboard in the trunk of their Impreza coupe/sedan? (not talking wagon) If I can't do so, then it's pretty much a dealbreaker for me, as bad as I want this car.

I was able to fit two boards, resting on their edges, through the pass through... the longest measured 158.... I was also dealing with weird bindings (Flow) that stand out more than any step-in or strap-in I've ever seen.
So it is very do-able... but I'm still going to invest in a roof-rack for the convienience... and because I don't see much room for my mountain bike back there.

thnx for the heads up.. my board's short @ 154 so I believe I should be safe, but again I figured we shouldn't have to deal with that kind of strife when Subaru could have eased the pain and given us splitfolding in the first place =]
The pass-through--do you mean there is an opening for ski's in the middle?

Yes, there is a good sized pass through in the center. The only real issue is clearing the trunk lip and making it through the hole since the rear deck doesn't move.
Sure, I'd love the split fold too, but there is a reason behind it. I'm sure you'd find the sedan to be a lot stiffer in the rear than the wagon... pretty sure there is strut reinforcement killing the split fold idea. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong there.

makes sense.. with a little pass-through it's a bit more workable, I thought it was a completely enclosed trunk. Is this the case with all RS's (ie. 93-01, 2002+, etc.)? I only ask this b/c i didnt want to go around search every dealer lot for every incarnation of it to find out what generation did or did not have.

It would stand to reason for manufacturing ease that all the sedan models have the center pass and not the split fold. I mean how much different does a WRX look than your garden variety Imprezza. `course this would kill my strut bar theory... maybe I should just shut the hell up.

93-01 Impreza, no pass thorugh... -02 and up has pass through. But, I can fit a golf bag or 3 easily in my trunk ('01 coupe) so boards should fit too.
