The best way to a 2.5 Turbo?
Hi, I'm an MM1 onboard the USS CARL VINSON and we've hit a liberty port where the internet is up and reasonably quick so I figured I would post this now and fight for a connection later to check responses.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to finance either a 2003 Impreza 2.5RS or a WRX when I get back off this cruise. In the past I have hot rodded aircooled VW's and they are pretty easy to increase displacement by boring and stroking. My last Bug was a 2007cc (a 90.5x78 vice the stock 85.5x69). So the question is:
If I wanted a 2.5L turbo motor, would it be easier to start with a 2.5RS and turbo it or would it be easier to increase the displacement by boring or stroking a WRX motor up to 2.5L? Starting with the turbo motor seems the way to go since Subaru has done 99% of the engineering for me.
OR am I totally whacked and need to read up on the differences between the motor types before even considering this thought?
I know the WRX will be more fun than the RS, right now this is an info quest for me.
I'm sure this has been covered on various other posts but, onboard the ship we have extremely limited bandwidth for internet useage so I haven't done more than basic searches on this subject. Often times I can't even load a search engines web page much less the i-club page. That is why I just cut to the chase and added a post.
Thanks,
Gib
