Is it bad to buy parts and have them "sit" for months?
I want to start getting towards my stage two. I am planning on getting my ASP uppipe and my turbo xs TBE w/rfl-ti axle back, downpipe... They will probably sit in my room for about 3-4 months before I get them installed...gotta wait until winter is definatly done, and mainly because of inspection/emissions... Not gonna pass with 1 cat..lol Is it ok for me to start getting parts for my car even though they aren't going to be installed... should I worry about fitting issues, things like that?
I'm a computer guy, so when I get stuff for my computer I can ususally test it when I get it, if there is a problem I take care of it then... but with this stuff, my whole car will have to be taken apart...ehhhh don't know what to do.
Thanks :-)

Personally I would wait until I'm atleast a month away from installation b4 I byuy the parts. If you buy them now you can store them in your room if you choose to but make sure its isnt in a damp area or on the very top shelf. Since heat rises, if you put something on the top shelve it will be exposed to the heated air and may mess up you parts a lil.
If you wait about 4 months anyways the prices may drop of you may find a better deal. Just on that note I would hold off.
Just my .02 if you dont like it then take this

only reason i would say to wait is so that you could possibly find a cheaper price somewhere else down the road or a better part or you decide to go a different direction with your car
uhh. the parts will be fine, how long do you think they were sitting at the factory/warehouse/etc before you got them?
now as far as test fitting them, if you don't get a chance and you wait 4 months, then run into a problem the vendor may not work with you, heck they may not even sell the same part anymore. just make sure you order from a good vendor, get the uppipe from autospeed (i'm assuming autospeedperformance and NOT APS-airpowersystems) and get the turbo-xs stuff from ninosautoaccessories.

ll what are you on???
yes heat rises, but idont think it will be hotter than the exhaust temp.

no guys Im not talking about just Heat in general. The heat from sitting on a high shelf tends to make things rust because it also has moisture. In the engine if you let you car sit in one place (dont start or move the car) for 4 month does the engine not act up? Im refering to just letting some parts (turbo) sit in a high spot that tends to get alot of moist heat. A good vendor always lets there parts sit in a dry and cool area not a warm and damp area. That was my point so take this

Cool thanks for the replies :-) I guess I will just wait till all this is over then just buy and it and have the stuff installed... Call me crazy but it seems easier to spend $$$ here and buy a part then later buy another part, instead of dropping $1500 all at once..hehehe
Good point about the vendor not helping you out after some time...
I've ordered from Mike at MPA and he's really nice, good stuff too! Cheapest I've seen the ASP uppipe has been from fastwrx.com and that was like $299, anyone knows a cheaper price let me know! :-) As far as the exhaust I've seen Worldoneperformance and they seem to have the best price going currently.... who knows, it might all change...
Thanks :-)
