My STI is going to sit for 6 months... :-(

Yes its the truth my STI that i just bought no more then three months ago is going to have to sit in my driveway for 6 months come January....

As you all are probably wondering no i did not get my license suspended or anything like that due to exhibition of speed or anything crazy like that...because that would suck.

I am actually shipping off to boot camp come this new year and then i ship to AIT right after that. So that means my subi is going to sit in the driveway for a good 5 to 6 months :-(

Ill have my family start it up and take it for a spin once a week or so and keep it clean in the mean time, but i just bought it! and now its going to sit there!

But the cool thing is i get a 25k bonus for enlistment. I see 10k of it when i get out of AIT and i see the other 15k when i get commisioned as a officer.

So now the big question is what to do with 10k....i know im using 2k of it to take a big chunk out of my loan for my STI, then im investing about 2k of it into some bonds, and then...well then i dont know....a Turbo upgrade or more savings...LOL

Decision...Decisions....

I would suggest you get a bottle of Sta-Bil, a Battery Tender, and a car cover.

Nah, still living with the parentals and the XKR and the S500 get the garage. I might try and clear the Ski out of the third car garage and leave my car in there.

Stupid questions....i know what a car cover is but whats Sta-bil and a battery tender...im guessing a battery tender keeps the battery from going bad...and maybe sta-bil has something to do with the car sitting for so long.

Sta-Bil goes in the gas tank so the fuel doesn't go weird while you're away. I doubt your family is going to drive it around enough to burn through a tank of gas every two weeks.

Nah my parents will watch the car, it will stay at my house, he is going to wash it and take care of it to make sure it doesnt get absolutly thrashed sitting in my driveway. My parents will handle the short drives to keep the car running on a regular basis.

The car doesn't need to get driven as much as you think. I store 2 cars that I don't drive for a month or so at a time (one's a BMW, another one's a race car). They start back up just like they usually would. I wouldn't worry about having it driven every week. Keep a full tank of gas in there and inflate the tires a little higher than usual to prevent flat spots.
