Some other concerns you will want to address for storage:

1) Shut the vents to recirculate mode, but keep a couple of windows cracked. You want to keep out rodents, but let the interior breathe.

2) Cover the sidewalls of the tires so that they don't get baked in the sun.

3) Keep the tires inflated to spec the whole time.

4) You might want to use so sort of rodent deterrent in the engine compartment (they LOVE to chew on wiring, and make nests in inconvenient places).

P.S.- Contact an exotic car dealer service or parts dept and see what they would recommend (in general) for long-term modern car storage. They see cars that don't get much use all the time.

Well I'm going to ait to become a combat engineer so I get to go blow stuff up, in a general respect.

Yeah I'm going to rearech how to take care of the car while its gone. I don't think I need to worry too much because the xkr sits in the garage all through winter and starts up just fine in summer.

Sta-bil is key, that's what I used in my car when it had to sit for the summer. Car cover too, both essential.

XKR, coupe or convertible? Year?

Inside storage is not the same as outside storage. A friend of mine used to store his race car in the garage (close to 7 years) until they had a baby and the wife insisted on a garage spot for her car. Within a few months rodents had nested and chewed through some of his wiring.

He now has one of those ultrasonic rodent repellers plugged in under the hood and one inside the car along with a battery tender and has not had another issue.

Also moisture absorbing material to keep mold from developing is another good idea for winter storage out in the elements.

I plan to do this when my Mustang gets booted out of it's warm and cozy garage spot as well...

I would also agree that a fuel treatment is a very good idea if you plan to store the car 6 months or longer. I average 4 tanks of gas a year in my Mustang so I am not worried about this part.

HAHA nice galli, i hope to ship a week or two after the new year. I am heading to MEPS tomorrow actually to phsically enlist and thats when i will get my ship date.

08 @ Cal Poly is still a go. Thats why i am shipping now. My Basic is 11 weeks and my AIT is 14 weeks. If i ship the beginning of the second week of january i project that i will be back from AIT ruffly around the second week of July 07. That gives me enough time to gather my ****, move to SLO, and begin fall class at Cuesta and still transfer to Cal Poly in 08.

7 Months? No way. Basic is 13 I thought and AIT is another 3-4. Sam Reid is already out of AIT.

Good luck in Iraq, and good luck getting commissioned. The army is a bit overstocked with 2nd Lieutenants right now.

I hope you're prepared to spend a year or more in the 'Sandbox.

Edit: Oh, and expect to see $6-7000 of your $10k bonus.

Galli - yeah my basic is 11 weeks and my AIT is 14 weeks. The legnth of your ait depends on your MOS. Sam had a really basic MOS that's why his was so short.

Kidatari - first off thanks for your wonderful words of encouragment.

Secondly I'm not going into the army I'm going into the national guard. And yes the national guard is in need of officers and yes I already have my slot in college first then ROTC/SMP so yes I am alredy locked into the officer program.

Which leads me to my next thing, I probably and actially won't see iraq/the sandbox because I'm in college first and rotc/smp and that protects me from being deployed and by the time I'm out we will probably be out of iraq by the next four years.

And yes I know I won't see all 10k cause of taxs. Ill see about 7 to 7.5.
